Uber coming to Huntsville International Airport

November will see a new option for travelers going through Huntsville International Airport; an agreement has been signed that will allow Uber to join Lyft and other ground transportation choices on airport property.

The announcement of the Uber agreement by airport officials came at the end of October and enables those traveling for business or pleasure to have a ride to or from the airport within minutes of tapping the app on their phone. The Hunting Airport is providing space for Uber in its pickup area for ride-sharing services, which is located next to hotel shuttles adjacent to the baggage claim area.

Over 300 airports, across six continents, have agreements with the popular ride-sharing service. The Executive Director of the Port of Huntsville, Rick Tucker, explained the airport’s thought process in making the agreement with Uber by saying:

“Our goal was to craft an agreement with Uber that would bring a new transportation solution while also meeting the needs of our existing ground transportation providers.”

Those signing up for the Uber app for the first time can use the promo code HIFREERIDE and obtain a free first ride up to $15. As many people are unfamiliar with the concept of ride-sharing services, a marketing campaign involving direct mail printing would be one option for enlightening locals in situations like this.
