Fans of reality television, cooking, and cookbooks in general have a treat in store, since Northvale will soon be hosting a celebrity chef.

Gail Simmons is a judge on the television show “Top Chef,” a hit reality cooking competition on the Bravo network. Simmons has written a cookbook, “Bringing It Home,” which she will be signing in Northvale at Books and Greetings soon.

“Top Chef” has been a top performer for Bravo for the past fourteen years; the network recently renewed the show for a fifteenth season. The show continues to garner high ratings; this year, it has been averaging over two million viewers per episode, higher than the previous season. The premiere episode of the fourteenth season was the most-watched in five years. The show has been nominated for best reality competition program ten times.

Toronto native Simmons trained at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, and then went on to work in the kitchens of two legendary restaurants, Le Cirque 2000 and Vong. In addition, she is a food writer and culinary expert.

The book signing is scheduled for 7 pm on November 9, 2017; Books and Greetings is on Livingston Street. Fans can enjoy free admission when they buy the cookbook.

Organizers of this kind of event can help things go smoothly if they work with a poster printing company to create signs to help direct people’s movement.
