Torrington provides local children with two safe Halloween events

October 16, 2017 by

Several local merchants – the Torrington Lions Club, Torrington Municipal and Teachers Federal Credit Union, Torrington Parks and Recreation – a long with the City of Torrington, are sponsoring Trunk or Treat 2017. This will be an opportunity for our kids up to age of 15 to collect Halloween candy in a safe environment.

Nonprofits, other organizations, businesses, and individuals will be decorating the trunks of cars in Halloween themes, and costumed adults will be passing out candy to children as the children go from vehicle to vehicle.

The event will also have a stilt walker, hayrides, games, a DJ, and an Open Suitcase Circus Station.
Candy donations will be accepted until the event day by the Parks and Recreation Department, Sullivan Senior Center, Torrington Municipal & Teachers Federal Credit Union, and Mayor Carbone’s Office.

Another Halloween event for families will be the Fall Fest 2017. This one will feature hayrides every 15 minutes, a magic show, and a silent auction of the Jack-O-Lanterns that may be previewed in the courtyard. Kids and adults will be entering the costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for funniest, best, and scariest costumes. Winners will likely want pictures for future poster printing.

Trunk-or-Treat will take place October 21 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Main Street between Water and Church streets.

Fall Fest 2017 will be from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm this Friday, October 20 at the Torrington Middle School, 200 Middle School Road, Torrington.
