Arlington Heights offers Halloween activities for kids

Arlington Heights Park District will have Halloween events for the children towards end of October.

This year’s Pumpkin Splash will have six 10-minute slots for two- to four-year-olds and five- to seven-year-old children. Kids will be invited to bob for floating plastic pumpkins filled with toys and candy. All participants will get into the pool with their parent or guardian, and when the whistle blows, the little ones can grab as many pumpkins as they can. ‘The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ cartoon will be shown after the last bobbing.

Older kids are invited to attend the Trunk or Treat a week later. The children will want to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and walk from vehicle to vehicle collecting candy. Local organizations and businesses will be donating time, candy, and decorating cars for this event. Sponsors will be decorating with Halloween-themed banners, streamers, and scary age-appropriate add-ons. There will also be jump inflatables, games, refreshments, an arts and crafts project, and a Mad Science demo.

The Pumpkin Splash will be October 20 from 6:00 pm until around 7:30 pm at the Olympic Indoor Swim Center at 660 N. Ridge, Arlington Heights. Registration is required.

The Trunk-or-Treat will be inside the Village of Arlington Heights Public Works Building, 222 N. Ridge Ave., Arlington Heights on October 27 from 6:00 to 8:15 pm. Registration is required.
