Hollywood comes to Youngstown area

Youngstown and surrounding communities have been a film set for the past few weeks, with a crew working in the city and the Mahoning Valley. Now, the production team is looking for additional locations in the area.

The movie being filmed is entitled ‘Them That Follows’, and is a story about a Pentecostal sect of snake handlers in Appalachia. The main role is being played by Walton Goggins, who has appeared in such films as ‘Django Unchained’, directed by Quentin Tarantino, and ‘Lincoln’, a Steven Spielberg film. Alice Englert, who has been seen in ‘Beautiful Creatures’ and other productions, also stars.

The film is being co-produced by Amasia Entertainment, and G-Base, the production company of actor Gerard Butler, an A-lister who starred in films like ‘300’ and ‘Phantom of the Opera’.

The production company has already shot some footage in Youngstown, and is continuing to scout locations throughout the area. According to SalemNews.net, it now seems likely that more filming will be done in East Palestine and Lisbon. Further filming will start early in October, and continue through Thanksgiving. Extras are needed, so area residents who are interested should contact the Youngstown Regional Film Commission via its Facebook page.

Projects like this can be of interest to many people, and can make waves if officials work with a flyer printing company to create a piece for mailing to area residents.
