Bike Walk Connecticut’s The Discover Connecticut Bicycle Tour Series has chosen Torrington as its first ride this year. The event has been organized in tandem with the City of Torrington.

As this is peak season for fall foliage in Connecticut’s northwest corner, riders are likely to enjoy impressive views during the 12, 25, or 50 mile routes. Free food and entertainment will be waiting for finishers. Entry fee for adults will be $50, while registration for children 12 and under will be $10. Over 1,000 riders are expected to participate.

Biking organizations in surrounding towns such as Farmington Bike-up are also encouraging their members to get registered. Biking teams will surely be taking pictures for future poster printing.

Bike Walk Connecticut is an alternative transportation advocacy that is working toward making walking and bicycling attractive and feasible for Conencticut. It has two tours lined up for fall. The one in Torrington will happen first, and it will be followed by one in Suffield in October.

The Torrington ride will begin and end at Coe Memorial Park, 101 Litchfield Street, Torrington. It will take place Saturday, September 23. Registration will begin at 8:00 am and the actual ride will start at 9:00 am. Entertainment and lunch will be from noon until 2:00 pm.

The Suffield tour will begin at Hilltop Farm, 1615 Maple Avenue, Suffield at 9:00 am on October 22.
