The magazine Minnesota Monthly recently started a contest to let Minnesota residents vote on which Minnesota town is the best.

St. Cloud, Minnesota is currently a finalist for the magazine and is in the running for Best Minnesota Town along with Grand Marais, New Ulm, Duluth, Austin, Walker, Hopkins, Bemidji, Owatonna, and Waconia. The finalist will be decided by the editor of the magazine and a panel of previous and current Minnesota residents.

The mayor of St. Cloud, Dave Kleis, said in support of the city’s bid:

“As the eighth largest city in Minnesota, we deliver urban perks in a welcoming college-town setting along the mighty Mississippi River.”

He goes on to explain that the city is the heart of Minnesota, attracts major businesses, and has plenty of places for entertainment and recreational activities.

The winner of the contest will be receiving a party, a $50,000 media campaign to promote the town, and a multipage editorial that will be featured in Minnesota Monthly. Individuals who are interested in voting for St. Cloud or any of the other competing cities can do so 10 times daily until October 13 at midnight.
