Wiggle Out Loud celebrates five years

Music and outdoor enthusiast festival Wiggle Out Loud is returning to Oklahoma City.

For its five-year anniversary, the event will be at the Great Lawn in the Myriad Botanical Gardens later this month. This is the second year the free event has been at this venue.

Hosted by Medical Center of Oklahoma University’s Children’s Hospital, volunteers of the hospital are treating it as a mission to reach out to the community. Attendance last year was believed to be almost 7,000 children.

According to The Children’s Hospital Volunteers Executive Director Sara Jacobson, the organization wants to teach kids to live an active and healthy lifestyle while enjoying their childhood, believing it is just as important to conduct outreach as it is to teach wellness inside the hospital. The event can link the hospital with potential volunteers and other nonprofit groups. For children, there will be face painting, games, art, and competitions. Food trucks from the area will have healthy options for guests.

Woody Guthrie’s granddaughter Sarah Lee Guthrie, who is also a folk songwriter and singer, is the main performer for Wiggle Out Loud, having been a popular guest for several years. In addition, winners of the Latin Grammies will perform at this year’s event along with local bands and singers.

With the event taking place September 17 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, promotional drinkware such as water bottles can teach kids about the importance of staying hydrated at health-focused events.
