Kayaking for Kids event to take place near London

The organizers of a new boating incentive in the London area noticed the increase in the number of kayakers on the Ballard Ford River this year and decided to put together an event centering on the popular pastime.

Kayaking for Kids is scheduled for August 19, starting at 10:00 am. The proceeds from the event will go towards the Family Resource Centers in Williamsburg, Whitley County, and Corbin school districts, and towards Upward Basketball Scholarships in Corbin and Williamsburg.

Although discounted preregistration for the kayaking race is over, people will still be able to sign up to participate on the day of the event.

Organizers of races and other community events can use flyer printing to encourage people to sign up early. Preregistering not only saves participants $10 off of the admission fee, but also helps the organizers know how many kayaks will be needed for the day of the event.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own kayaks to the event, but boats will also be available for rent on the day of the race.

Prizes will be given to people who get the first, second, and third best kayak times. There will also be prizes for the best times for johnboats, and for the johnboat with the best costume. For those who decide to tube, prizes will be given to the three slowest times.

The cost to register for the event on the day is $30.
