Mesa hosts Arizona Celebration of Freedom

Mesa will once again be hosting Republic Services Arizona Celebration of Freedom this Independence Day.

The event will have patriotic displays and live music. The Freedom Express trackless train will be a new addition this year. A Fallen Heroes Memorial will be honoring Arizona’s men and women who have given their lives in the war on terrorism.

Attendees can meander through American Heritage Lane where they can view American historical figures and national monuments. Kids can enjoy free inflatables, carnival games and a soak and splash area.

Three stages will have live entertainment. Stage America – the main stage – will have Young Country, the 108th Arm Band and a Salute to America Program. The Stars and Stripes Stage will feature, Sugar Thieves and Shallow Water. The amphitheater will have the 108th Army Brass Sextet and a Revolutionary War re-enactment by the only Revolutionary War re-enactment group in our area We Make History. Photos of this group in action make interesting subjects for personalized stationery and poster printing.

Independence Hall will have a Historical Flag Presentation, the 10 question Civics Test, the Mesa City Band and the naturalization ceremony. The ceremony will welcome around 100 new citizens.

The event is to be held July 4th, 2017 at the Mesa Amphitheatre and Mesa Convention Center, 263 N. Center Street. It will run from 6 pm until 10 pm. Fireworks will start about 9:30 pm.
