The drive was from 10am – 4 pm in the parking lot right next to our home office. Even though this drive was planned before the hurricane, it was perfect timing, as we know that there is a short supply of blood on the island and every donation counts. We hope to participate in more drives soon, and we want to thank Alcott HR for putting this event together!
Mitch, who is a member of the Syosset Woodbury Rotary club, received the award for his efforts over the past year. He has been selling used hard cover books in his store, and all proceeds go to the PolioPlus charity that was founded by Rotary International in 1985. The PolioPlus charity’s main goal is to fight the epidemic of polio that still exists in countries around the world, and help get children vaccinated who otherwise are unable to. The cause is close to Mitch’s heart as his mother had polio, and he could not think of a better way to help support a cause, and to keep his mothers memory alive.
They plan on using the new space, which is attached to the center, as a “Customer Area”, and keeping the old space the “Production Area”. Their goal is to give their clients/customers a great and creative atmosphere to come into. The reason for the expansion was just a natural one, the space that they currently were using had grown too small for them as they continue to expand their ever growing business, and it was just one of those steps necessary to keep growing.
Minuteman Press is a sponsor of the Lowell Spinners, as well as one of the team’s printers. They also have a billboard in the outfield which gives them great exposure to the community. Habeel regularly promotes the Well Foundation on advertising material that the store uses and at marketing and advertising events the store regularly visits; as well as donating to the charity. Next up for the store is a 10k run in Glasgow, that both Habeel and members of staff are running in. They are hoping that the run raises more money than the last event that they participated in.
So far Jeff and some of his colleagues have been in the newspaper, a Scottish national television news program, and the local radio station. The television news program actually had a segment that showed Jeff’s store in the background. They run community events such as the recent Easter egg hunt aimed at both adults and kids.
