Neville Schneiderman, owner and print enthusiast, originally from sunny South Africa, is actively involved in the running of the business. Neville went into partnership with his late father Allan in 1997 (shortly after Allan’s arrival from South Africa), buying an existing Minuteman Press franchise in Richmond, BC. It was an exciting new path for father and son. Neville later recruited his wife, Tanya, and niece, Keziah, to join the team. After 10 years with the company, Keziah will soon be off on a new adventure as she is expecting her first child.
All members of the family come from different backgrounds, but they have all found their niche within the Minuteman Press franchise. The tone that they have set for the franchise is both welcoming and energetic. “We understand the importance of building relationships with people and have hired individuals with a similar mindset- people who are prepared to grow with the constantly changing times and demands of our market place. We want our customers to walk away appreciative of our service and thrilled with the end-product we provide them,” Neville explains. “We find that working as a team is essential as we all have our areas of expertise and the referrals from our existing customers speak volumes.”
Tanya helps clients realize ways to promote themselves beyond print on paper. “After 15 years of business we have realised that adapting to the changing times is essential for growth. Adding a wide selection of clothing to our product line 5 years ago and applying screen printing, embroidery or heat transfer for customisation offers more versatility for our customers. In addition to the clothing we have also complimented our product line with a limitless selection of promotional products, which can be imprinted with our customers’ logos.”
“It is always about personalised service, otherwise, we would never be able to keep our customers – but competitive pricing does come into play.” – Neville Schneiderman, owner, Minuteman Press franchise, Richmond, BC
“Educating our customers about print and making them aware of the vast options available to them is beneficial,” Neville explains. “Introducing new equipment to include large format printing to our existing offset and digital machines, has been invaluable. We are now able to print banners, signs and posters using various materials such as adhesive vinyl, canvas, static cling, poster paper and more… all with the aim of offering our customers a more diverse product range/line”. He continues with advice about business growth, “Re-inventing yourself and your services is an ongoing process and the key to any business’ success but being passionate about what you do is just as critical. Remember to stick to the basics, like going out and introducing yourself to prospective customers. It works!”
One such occasion in which going out and networking personally worked occurred in 2008, when Neville walked into the offices of Alive Publishing Group and saw a familiar face. She was a business associate who subsequently moved to Australia, but not before introducing Neville to the person in charge of printing for the company.
Alive Publishing Group are leading knowledge experts in natural health and wellness. “We were given an opportunity to provide them with a variety of printed material- their sports and fitness nutrition and natural health fundamentals workbooks (to name a few). They were happy with the end product, so we built our relationship from there,” Neville recalls.
Neil MacLeod is the Regional Vice President for Minuteman Press in Western Canada and he has great respect for Neville, Tanya and their team in Richmond. He is pleased to provide them with local support as they continue to serve their community.
Neil says, “The Schneiderman family have been proof that good, old-fashioned service with a smile and a handshake is still very much appreciated in today’s business environment. It has been a pleasure working with them over the last seventeen years.”
Carlie Hubele is the Production Manager for Alive Publishing and she is forthcoming about the good work she knows her company can count upon from her relationship with Neville and his team. She says, “Minuteman Press is our #1 shop to provide us with every product we need for any project or event we are working on. We have always relied on them to deliver the best quality in the quickest turnaround time. We use Minuteman Press in every aspect of our business; printing invitations, Alive Academy certificates and books, large poster boards, etc. They have always been there to support us when we need a piece produced in an unrealistic time frame. They seem to amaze us every time!”
Similarly impressed, Anna Kanovska, HR Coordinator at Alive, concurs with her colleague and is appreciative of the way Alive’s digital print, design and marketing services provider respects and promotes their brand. She adds, “Every time Minuteman Press in Richmond prints or produces a piece we always get compliments on their work. It can be anywhere from an invite going to VIPs of an event we are hosting or large poster boards they print for our booths at our tradeshows. They always go above and beyond to assist us with whatever we envision. They have a very user friendly website to easily place an order and upload files.”
The future collaboration between the two companies is assured, thanks to mutual respect and measurable results. As Carlie concludes, “Alive has developed a great relationship with Minuteman Press and we continue to use their services in the future as well as recommend them to anyone we come across. We have always been able to rely on their services and will continue to do so for future projects.”
Neville and Tanya are enthusiastic about the future of their franchise. They are striving to keep up to date with the latest market trends, technology and they are personally invested in meeting their customers’ objectives. Their approach is building upon the strong reputation of the Minuteman Press brand and there is good reason to be excited about their continued presence in Richmond.
Neville concludes, “Personalised service and taking the time to understand our customers changing needs so we can adapt with them gives us an advantage. It allows us to be an extension of their business while maintaining consistently high-quality products within a timely manner at competitive prices. This is what we strive for.”
