The Minuteman Press franchise in Middletown, Rhode Island (Aquidneck Island) was able to donate $1,000 to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center located in Newport, RI. Every year, Minuteman Press owner Helen Andromalos designs, prints, and donates the tickets to the annual MLK Community Center’s fundraising event. Since 1922, the MLK Community Center has provided nutritional, educational, and social support as well as a safe and nurturing environment to Newport County residents in need.
For this year’s tickets, Helen added a personal touch to the design, which made a huge difference. She says, “This year, I decided to put a little girl holding a “Please Help” sign on the back of the ticket. That is actually what inspired me to do more, and apparently it did for others as well because this was the biggest year ever.”
For the 2017 Fundraiser BBQ Dinner & FEED-A-FRIEND Food Drive, three local Rotary clubs on Aquidneck Island got together to help raise money. In previous years, the benefit has raised between $8,000 and $12,000. This year, with an assist from Helen and her team at Minuteman Press, over $24,000 was raised in total. Helen explains, “The ticket really inspired me to do something different, so I raised money on behalf of MLK. With the money I raised and my Minuteman Press contribution, I was able to present them with a nice check for $1,000 outside of any rotary contributions.”
“Congratulations to Helen Andromalos, her team at Minuteman Press in Aquidneck Island, and all who donated to such a great cause,” added Ron Rubin, Minuteman Press International Regional Vice President for New England.
