Local News in Woodinville, WA

When Woodinville officials wanted to know what sort of equipment the city should buy for the playgrounds at two of the citys parks, Woodinville Heights Park and Wilmot Gateway Park, they decided to ask the experts: the kids who will be using it.

On May 9, the Woodinville City Council looked at two plans for preserving Woodinvilles Old Schoolhouse, and developing the campus occupied by the old building. Council members are looking for a developer to work on the three-acre site.

Two Woodinville organizations, the Rotary Club and the Woodinville Farmers Market, will receive the grant money they requested, after having been initially turned down. The two will use the grants for events they plan in 2017.

This month, Woodinville's Parks and Recreation Commission recommended spending approximately $533,000 to improve DeYoung Park, and the idea was given the green light.

On February 7, the Woodinville City Council agreed to hire a consultant to assist in the search for a developer for the Old Woodinville Schoolhouse project.

Earlier this month, the Washington Parks and Recreation Commission approved a proposal to renovate a building at St. Edward State Park and turn it into a private hotel. The park is located in Kenmore, about five miles from Woodinville, Washington, and the building was once a seminary.

In a meeting in early December, 2016, Woodinvilles city council approved the budget for the 2017-2018 period, approving a leaner budget than the one proposed earlier this year, according to an article in the Woodinville Weekly.

Although Woodinville has not completely hammered out the details of its two-year budget, it appears that several good causes are going to benefit, including organizations that help the homeless and support victims of domestic violence.

Woodinville will be losing at least 57 trees soon, when the state removes them because they have root rot.
