On Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3, the Maritime Gig Festival is set to be held in Down Gig Harbor located at 3207 Harborview Drive, just down the road from Tacoma, Washington. This event will run from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Sponsored by the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, this year sees the return of several popular activities, including the Grand Parade, Kiwanis pancake breakfast, fun run, round rock contest, and great live entertainment, along with many food vendors, historic boats, and children’s activities. The event also offers cause for celebration with a “Blessing of the Fleet.” There will be a coast guard air, sea, and rescue demonstration. Performers who are present will include the comedian Bill Robson, Roberto the Magnificent, and Seattle’s junior Tamburitzans Dance Ensemble. This year’s bands feature names such as Soulstice, The Shy Boys, Ted Vigil and his band, and many others. The Fun Run takes place at 9:00 am before the parade which begins an hour later. Blessing the Fleet will take place at 2:45 pm and the children’s fair is open from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

This is a family event, so everyone is welcome and admission is free. With the festival to take place outdoors, visitors are reminded to dress appropriately and to bring sunscreen and sunglasses. Flyer printing and other stationery printing services have most likely been used to advertise and promote this fun event. For additional information on this festival, please visit the Gig Harbour Chamber of Commerce website, or call 253-851-6865.
