Sweet treat in store for Silverdale theater fans

Arguably Roald Dahl’s most memorable story will be Brought to the Silverdale stage in just a couple of weeks.

‘Willy Wonka; is all about a world famous candy maker and his ongoing quest to find a suitable heir. This is a stage adaptation of the classic Dahl story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, which was brought to greater attention thanks to the 1971 film ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’, starring Gene Wilder as the eccentric chocolatier.

This stage production features the memorable songs from the film, and is sure to have the audience humming along. This memorable score was written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Briscusse. The story follows an enigmatic candy maker, named Willy Wonka, as he designs a contest by hiding gold tickets in five of his delicious candy bars. People who purchase the candy bars and find the gold tickets are guaranteed a free tour of the candy factory, and candy supplied free of charge throughout their lifetime. Four of the winning children are brats, but the fifth child is a likeable young boy named Charlie Bucket. Charlie and his grandfather take a tour with the other children, who must learn to follow the rules of the factory or suffer from the consequences.

Tickets for this production range from $8 to $15, depending on selection of seating. It will be performed on Friday, February 14, starting at 7:30 pm at the Central Stage Theatre of County Kitsap in Silverdale. Tickets can be bought from the theater’s website.
