The Seattle Scottish Highland Games Association, a nonprofit group whose mission is to further Scottish culture and heritage, will present its 49th Annual Heather Tartan Ball & Silent Auction later this month. In addition to ballroom dancing, the event will also feature country and highland merriment.
The first part of this semi-formal event will be a social hour, which will be followed by Scottish country dance instruction which will also be available throughout the evening. A silent auction will include a compilation of items that have been donated by local organizations, companies, and individuals who support the games. Also dispersed throughout the evening will be pipe band presentations and, later in the evening, massed bands will play. Attendees may purchase meat pies throughout the evening, and a no host bar will be available as well.
This gala affair will be held this Saturday, November 2, from 6:00 pm through 11:30 pm at Northgate Community Center, 10510 – 5th Avenue NE. Advanced ticket purchase ($20 apiece) is advised and tickets may be purchased either online or by mail before October 26. Tickets will be available at the door for $25.
Scottish country dancing will be held from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, while Bottlerockit will provide live dance music at 7:45 pm, 8:45 pm and 10:15 pm.
Tried-and-true Scotsmen in the area may want to have flyer printing done to distribute information to their neighbors and co-workers, as benefits from the ball will support the upcoming Highland Games.
