Galactic fun in store for sci-fi fanatics this month

August 19, 2013 by

The Official Star Trek Convention is returning to the area after a long absence, and people are invited to come down and enjoy everything related to the legendary sci-fi show.

This is America’s only designated convention based on the program, and Trekkies near and far have probably been alerted through flyer and postcard printing services, no doubt keeping local print companies busy

Everything and anything to do with Star Trek will be here, including live entertainment aimed at fans. They can meet the captains and crews, who will appear live, including William Shatner, Kat Mulgrew, Marina Sirtis, and Nana Visitor. Keen fans are unlikely to need to be told which character they played.

There will be lectures, workshops, and, of course, everyone must visit the famous Star Trek Vendors Room to pick up a souvenir. There is a costume contest, a karaoke party, and a Star Trek Music Video Competition with prizes awarded after the judging. Backstage passes are available for purchase. During the convention, guests can also enjoy the newest Star Trek movie.

Admission ranges from $30 for general up to $299 for a gold weekend package. The Official Star Trek Convention will be happening on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 at the Hilton Seattle Airport located at 17620 International Blvd. in Seattle, Washington. To learn more about the events, the schedule, or to purchase tickets, please visit the convention’s website or call Creation Entertainments, which is the sponsor of the event, at 818-409-0960.
