Olympia set to celebrate dance
February 27, 2013 by James
This weekend’s ‘Olympia Dance Festival’ is an annual event that consists of dancers who perform across all genres and regularly appear in the South Sound region. For anyone in the area who enjoys watching people dancing to wonderful music, this is perhaps the premier event of the year to attend.
The people who organized this event may have used poster printing to spread the word to people in the South Sound region and those that reside in Olympia. During the afternoon, dance participants from the Ballet Northwest, Comerford School of Irish Dance, Centralia Ballet Academy, Johansen Olympia Dance Center, Debbi’s Dance Etc, Random Acts of Dance Collective – RADCO, Uda Middle Eastern Dancers, Studio West Dance Academy, Slieveloughane Irish Dancers, and Southwestern Washington Dance Ensemble will be joined by guest artisan, Maria Chapman, who is the principal dancer at the Pacific Northwest Ballet.
The dance festival is a great way to introduce children to the various dance disciplines available in the area, giving them a broad idea of the types of dance available. People of all ages are welcome.
Tickets cost $10 per person, although all tickets have a $3 service fee charged on top of the actual ticket price. The Olympia Dance Festival will be happening on Sunday, March 2, beginning at 2:00 pm at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts in Olympia. To purchase tickets, please visit the Olympia Dance Festival website or call the Washington Center for the Performing Arts at 360-753-8586 during normal hours.
