Orem Arts Center to present Rogers and Hammerstein extravaganza
January 22, 2014 by Lisa
The end of this month and the beginning of next month will mark the time for The SCERA Center for the Arts to present its 5th Annual Night of Broadway.
The glitz and dazzle of New York City’s Broadway shows will be brought to Orem by the area’s most talented actors and singers. The theme this year will be a tribute to the iconic duo of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.
From powerhouse numbers to ballads, and character pieces to comic renditions, the evening will bring back those old nostalgic tunes. Group production numbers will add to the ambience of the evening. Those unforgettable songs from musicals like Oklahoma, Carousel, State Fair, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music are likely to make this a truly unforgettable evening.
SCERA is a charitable, non-profit arts organization founded in 1933. The SCERA Center’s three pronged goal is to “enrich the mind, touch the soul, and unify the family” through arts education, the advancement and development of culture and the arts, and by providing affordable and wholesome family entertainment.
The show will be held in the 450 seat Showhouse II Theater, and tickets can be purchased online. Donations and Sponsorships are still available for the 2014 season, and local printing companies might be among the groups considering supporting the community through this venue.
The Rogers and Hammerstein Production will be offered January 30 and 31, and Feb 1 and 3 at the SCERA Center Showhouse II, 745 South State Street, Orem. It begins at 7:00 pm each night.
