Orem area residents invited to ‘run for freedom’
April 11, 2013 by Mark
Orem residents will soon have a chance to express their patriotism at a fun-filled event close to home.
Toward the end of this month, a ‘USA Freedom Run’ will be taking place in the neighboring city of Provo. Printing services are likely being used to promote this family-friendly activity, as well as to create banners and flyers for the big day.
The Freedom Run is a non-competitive 5K race aimed at honoring the sacrifices of America’s military veterans and showing gratitude for the opportunity to live in a democracy. Participants of all ages will arrive at this event wearing white T-shirts. Once they have received their signal to start, they will make their way through a series of three ‘Freedom Zones’. Volunteers will spray the runners with red, white, or blue powder at each successive station so that their clothing is covered in the colors of the American flag by the time they reach the finish line. After the race, attendees will be invited to attend a dance party.
The race in Provo will be just one of many ‘Freedom Runs’ in the United States this year. The Ephraim, Utah-based movement has become particularly popular in the western region of the country. Participants may register as individuals for $25, or as part of a group for $15. A portion of the proceeds from these registration fees will go toward non-profit organizations that help veterans.
The USA Freedom Run will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 27, at 1200 South Towne Centre Boulevard. Those interested in registering may call (435) 851-1138.
