Cottonwood Heights residents encouraged to attend Healthy Heart Fair

February 5, 2013 by

Cottonwood Heights area residents will soon have the opportunity to learn more about heart health at one of the country’s leading cardiac treatment centers.

This weekend, the Intermountain Heart Institute will be hosting a ‘Healthy Heart Fair’ at Intermountain Medical Center in nearby Murray to educate the public about the steps they can take to prevent heart disease and other related issues. Flyer printing has likely been on the rise as a variety of presenters prepare informational handouts for the day of the event.

Attendees will be able to participate in seminars about heart health, as well as ask pharmacists and other experts any questions they might have on the subject. They will also have a chance to receive EKG screenings and have their cholesterol, blood pressure, body fat, and glucose levels measured. All of these medical services will be available at no cost to the public.

Cooks will be on hand to demonstrate a variety of heart-healthy recipes, and nutritious snacks will be provided. Outside of the medical center, several emergency vehicles from Murray’s police and fire departments will be on display. Attendees will also have the chance to see a Life Flight helicopter up close.

The Healthy Heart Fair will run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm this Saturday, February 9, at Intermountain Medical Center, which is located at 5300 South State Street. Pre-registration is not required for this event. Those who would like additional information may call the Intermountain Heart Institute at (801) 507-4701.
