Cottonwood Heights prepares for summer festivities

Cottonwood Heights was once known as Butlerville, and today’s city pays homage to its early days with the annual Butlerville Days celebration, which will take place this July.

Starting as a local event, Butlerville Days is now one of the fastest-growing festivals in Utah, and plans are already underway for the 2017 celebration.

At this time, the planning committee is accepting applications for a number of activities scheduled to take place. First, the committee would like nominations for someone to serve as the grand marshal for the parade. The individual named should have either a historic or business connection with Cottonwood Heights. Organizers are also encouraging people to sign up to enter the parade with their floats, performance groups, or other fun ideas.

This year, there will be a craft market, and artisans are encouraged to apply to be able to sell their items at the event. The committee also wants to hear from bands, musical groups, and stage acts of all kinds to participate as part of the live entertainment that will take place on stage.

There is also a chalk art competition, and artists are encouraged to enter and draw their best efforts on the sidewalk. There is also a pickleball tournament planned, and a 5K Fun Run/Walk.

Butlerville Days 2017 is scheduled for the July 21-22 weekend, and will no doubt call for plenty of banners all around the area.
