Celebrate Independence Day the old-fashioned way
June 30, 2012 by Mark
This is the 16th year of this Independence Day Parade and the event kicks off with the Middle of Millen Drive Parade. Locals are invited to bring the whole family, as well as a lawn chair, to enjoy the excitement and fun.
There will be floats, horses, music, and much more. The parade kicks off at 4:00 pm from 9255 SW Millen Drive, close to Tigard High School but at the entrance to Cook Park. After the parade, attendees can head over to the High School’s soccer field to enjoy the rest of the planned activities. This year’s event features police and fire vehicles, an assortment of children’s games, several live performing bands, food booths offering a variety of snacks for sale, and many other activities. Please note, the event does not permit alcohol, personal fireworks of any kind, or smoking. At dusk, guests can sit back and enjoy a fantastic fireworks display. This year there will be several clowns present, as well as many games and activities for the children.
Poster printing, flyer printing, and postcard printing may have been used to promote this free, fun event to local families. This is an outdoor event and takes place in the evening, so sweaters may be necessary. For more information, please visit the Tigard Fourth of July website.
