Blood drive offers Tigard the chance to make a difference

With blood stocks always needed to be kept high, the City of Tigard will be doing its bit by sponsoring the Red Cross Blood Drive at the Tigard Public Library in the Burgess Community Room located at 13500 SW Hall Blvd. in Tigard, Oregon.

This will offer residents in the area the opportunity to assist the Red Cross and fellow citizens by making a donation of their blood. There is a critical need for blood donors to ensure that enough blood is available during emergencies and all blood types are currently required to make sure there is an adequate supply on hand. The Red Cross is also looking for platelet donations, as they only have a shelf-life of five days, so keeping the demand and supply high is crucial for hospital patients in the area.

Those who plan to donate need to bring along their driving license or another form of identification, as well as any current medications they are taking. Those who give blood will be honored with a Keebler cookie, baked just for them by the Keebler elves. All blood donors can find out if they are eligible to give blood and will be required to make an appointment online.

Poster printing and flyer printing may have been the forms of printing services chosen to promote this blood drive to the residents of the community and surrounding districts. There is no cost associated with this event, which is set for Wednesday, September 12, running from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. To learn more about the Blood Drive, or to book an appointment, please visit the Red Cross Blood website or call Sara Doughty at 503-718-2675.
