Concert series to begin in Oregon City

June 29, 2012 by

On Thursday, July 12, and every Thursday thereafter until August 23, the Concert in the Park Series will take place at Carnegie Park located on 7th Avenue at the corner of Washington Avenue in Oregon City, Oregon. Each concert will run from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

To kick off this year’s Concert in the Park series, Williamette Falls Symphony Orchestra will be performing. The orchestra is made up of a small ground of players that performs at many of the community events held within the city. This group sometimes plays at retirement residences, schools, and other small venue where a donation is exchange is required.

This River Winds symphony group is made up mainly of a woodwind quintet which plays for the Williamette Falls Symphony. The Williamette Fall Symphony plays a wide range of music including Mozart, Christmas Carols, Pachelbel’s Canon, Joplin rags, the Gay Nineties, Fiddler on the Roof, and Divertimentos. The majority of their performances last about one and a half hours. Following the July 12 evening, Retta Christie, David Evans, and Dave Frishberg will appear playing 30s and 40s jazz on July 19. This event will take place regardless of the weather, so guests are reminded to dress suitably and bring a sweater, as the evening hours can be cool.

Poster printing and online advertisements may have been used to promote this great summer series to the public. Admission to this event is free. For additional information, please visit the Parks and Recreation website or call the Park Office at 503-496-1201.
