Laughs-a-plenty during early September performance

August 27, 2012 by

From Saturday, September 1 until Friday, September 7, Animal Crackers will be performed at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located at 15 Pioneer Street, in Ashland, Oregon, which is just 21 minutes outside Medford. To find out times, please visit the website, as days and times vary.

This comedy features Captain Spaulding, an African explorer, as an honored guest at a upscale Long Island party being held at an important dignitaries home. This wise-cracking Captain, who is very fond of the ladies, gets up to all kinds of hijinks in this high-society crowd and he and his buddies try to mix in with all the social climbers while paintings are being stolen.

The production was written as a special piece for the Marx Brothers and features a wealth of slapstick comedy, outlandish music, dance numbers, and crazy songs. Originally released as a film back in 1929, it was recently adapted into a modern play filled with one-liners that are pretty pungent, so this play is not recommended for children under the age of 10. Lasting for almost two and a half hours, with a fifteen minute intermission, this comedy is a must-see for anyone looking for a healthy dose of chuckling.

Poster printing, brochure printing, and flyer printing might have been options considered in promotion of this madcap comedy to the audience. To find out more about this performance, as well as the range of admission prices, please visit the Oregon Shakespeare Festival website or call the box office at 541-488-5406.
