It’s Pear Blossom time again
March 28, 2012 by Sarah
On Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th, 2012 the 59th Annual Pear Blossom Festival Street Fair will be taking place in the grounds of Medford City Hall located at 411 W. Eighth Street in Medford, Oregon. This is the largest two day event held in the community of Medford and draws people from miles around. The grounds open to the public at 10am.
The Annual Pear Blossom Festival Street Fair had more than 30,000 in attendance last year and, this year, organizers are expecting larger numbers as additional events have been added to the fun. This festival features exhibitors, food, rides, and lots of activities for children and adults. One of the major draws of this street festival is the 46th Annual Pear Blossom Square Dance Festival which takes place both evenings with everyone being welcome to come out and learn how to square dance, or enjoy a great evening of square dancing fun. This year’s caller is from New Hampshire, Ken Ritucci, and the person cuing the dances will be local recording artist, Elaine Funk.
Besides square dancing, the Pear Blossom Festival will also host the Southern Oregon Philatelic Society Stamp Show. The annual Wine Tasting “Pear-a-Fare” will also have many local vineyards present with samples for people to sniff, sip, and taste. The annual Pear Blossom Parade will take place Saturday, April 14th at 11am. This year there has also been a Baby Contest added to the lineup, as well as many other new activities.
Local print companies‘ banner printing and stationery printing will no doubt have been used to support this great event by the organizers. Admission to this event is free. For more information, please visit Medford City Hall’s website, or call 840-7327.
