Bend asked to Grin and Bear It in support of local kids
February 3, 2017 by Mark
A day of activities have been planned for Bend that will raise money to help ensure all local children have a healthy start in life.
The Grin and Bear It run will include both 5 kilometer and 10 kilometer options, as well as a 1 mile family Fun Run. Participants in the 5k and 10k event can choose to run or walk the route, which both begins and ends at the Les Schwab Amphitheater. It winds its way through the areas along the banks of the Deschutes River and also Farewell Bend Park. The fun run, which follows a path that is both paved and flat, goes through the Old Mill District.
To thank those who took part for lending their support, prizes will be given in various categories, including the most funds raised, the fastest three times in each age group, the overall fastest female and male, and the biggest corporate team. Each person in the fun run will receive a ribbon. The businesses that sponsor an event like this can have ad specialties printed for inclusion in race packets that can be given to each person who takes part.
Monies collected through the Grin and Bear It run will be used to support Healthy Beginning in its efforts to help ensure local children have a good start in life. It will be held on March 4 at the Les Schwab Amphitheater, and more information has been made available on its website.
