Run or walk to support the Beaverton community
August 8, 2012 by Mark
Residents of Beaverton and surrounding areas will help needy families by participating in the Second Annual Beaverton Fun Run on September 3. The 56th Annual Celebration Parade will follow the 6K and one-mile run.
A new course will be one of the improved areas of the Fun Run, as well as the parade, which will feature more crowd-pleasers. The run/walk will begin at 9:00 am in Griffith Park at City Hall and wind through the streets within the established parade route, before reaching its conclusion back in Griffith Park in time for the parade procession.
Every family member can participate in both female and male groups. There will be Senior, Masters, and Junior awards for participants of both genders. The one-mile course is designed for those attendees that do not wish to complete the 6K run.
After crossing the finish line and hearing roars of the crowd, partaking families can sit and enjoy watching the Celebration Parade in its 56th year of existence.
An online pre-registration will close on September 3 and packet pickup begins at 7:00 am on the day of the event. Pre-registration costs $10 for students and $20 for adults. Everyone will receive a commemorative T-shirt with their registration fee and print companies will probably support promotions with flyer printing for the Fun Run.
Proceeds will benefit the efforts of the Beaverton Family Resource Center as it provides services to families in need within the community. Donations are also accepted during the registration process.
