Hot August Nights Event preparing to roll into the Reno and Sparks area
July 6, 2012 by Sarah
Hot August Nights is scheduled to take place in the Reno and Sparks areas August 6 – 11, 2012. The Hot August Nights event began in 1986, when thousands of people were gathered together at the Reno Sparks Convention Center to attend a 50s and 60s rock-and-roll concert.
As baby boomers relived their teen years dancing to the music of the Righteous Brothers, Jan and Dean, and Wolfman Jack in the parking lot, the tourism leaders in Reno and Sparks realized they had stumbled upon a viable format and venue for future events in August. The event also included a vintage car parade down Virginia Street, the main street in Reno, which ended up being the highlight of the entire weekend. The event grew to be one of the largest car shows in the country, held every August in the Reno and Sparks areas.
Hotels within the region sponsor many events, some of which involve fundraising for local charities, while others showcase their various properties, restaurants, and special features. Concerts are scheduled at various locations throughout the entire week of the event, along with car shows, drag races, cruising, and contests. Craft fairs are also regularly scheduled.
With so many activities scheduled, local print companies will probably be very busy in handling printing services required, such as flyer, banner, and poster printing. Brochure and catalog printing may also be underway in preparation for one of the largest summer events in the USA.
