February 29, 2012 by James
On Sunday, March 4th, 2012 the Sparks Heritage Museum and Cultural Center located at 814 Victoria Avenue, in Sparks, Nevada will be hosting a Celtic Exhibition within the 900 square foot gallery. During the month of April this display will be open to the public. Items featured in this exhibition have been loaned to the Sparks Heritage Museum and Cultural Center by the North Nevada Celtic Community. The Opening reception for this event will take place on March 4th at 2 pm.
The opening reception will feature a Blanchette Irish Dancers performance, a lecture based on the Irish History and theme of the event, and some finger-snapping, toe tapping Irish music. There will also be cake and refreshments available and the “Irish Citizen of the Year” award will be presented. This promises to be an interesting, educational, and fun event for the entire family, so bring the children and come on out.
Barbara Young, the organizer of this event is still accepting items on loan at this time, but she requires that the items loaned come with the story about them as well. This story should include what the item is, where it was found, who created it, and how it was used, as well as the person’s name who is loaning it. The local print company has completed the brochure printing for this event and they are now available to the public.
For additional information on this event, or to loan an item to the Sparks Heritage Museum and Cultural Center, please contact Barbara Young at 775-742-7776.
