Reno presents Artown Festival

Next month is set to bring plenty of fun to Reno, Nevada, when the Artown Festival kicks off with a show to mark the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.

The event, which takes place on July 1, will also feature Karl Denson, Corey Glover, Melvin Gibbs and Nona Hendryx, who have put together a fantastic show featuring R&B, jazz, and funk. Jelly Bread, another local favourite, will open this segment of the festival, which takes place at Wingfield Park.

The next evening, a special tribute to vintage entertainers such as Fred & Ginger and Gene Kelly will be performed in the ‘Icons and Idols’ show. Moving from the 50s to the 80s, other songs by artists such as Elvis, The BeeGees, John Travolta, Madonna and Michael Jackson will be performed. MC Hammer will also be featured in a video.

To celebrate the 4th of July, the residents of Reno and the surrounding areas are invited to mark 237th anniversary of the country. Also at Wingfield Park, the Reno Municipal Band will take attendees on a journey through the patriotic music of the U.S. The event will take place from 7:30pm until 10:00 pm

As the festival activities continue during the following weeks, the magnitude of organizing and managing the event is considerable. Local printing companies will be helping those in charge by providing much-needed promotional materials. Banner printing is a key component as the signs are used throughout the festival events to designate parking, specific areas, concession stands, and vendor booths.

Those looking for more information should visit the event’s official website.
