International Chess Festival scheduled in Las Vegas

June 2, 2012 by

From June 14 – 17, the International Chess Festival will take place in Las Vegas at the Riviera Hotel Casino and Spa.

One of the longest running tournaments, The National Open was formed in 1965 and is now considered “the chess vacation of the year” by participants. The organization has added more championships and is now the showcase of the Las Vegas International Chess Festival.

There will be a six-round Swiss-system tournament running, with a choice of a three-day or two-day schedule for the National Open. The prize fund is a guaranteed $80,000 award.

The festivities will begin with the “International Chess Camp.” Players of all ages are welcome to take part in half or full-day groups. The International Youth Championship will begin on Saturday, running through Sunday along with other fun youth activities, including a competition for solving puzzles on Saturday.

As this is one of the largest and most popular chess events each year, Las Vegas print companies work with the event organizers and coordinators in providing print services including brochure, flyer and poster printing.

There will be many side events taking place during the festival including a daily prize raffle. Memorabilia and souvenirs will be available for sale including a commemorative CD, T-shirts, books, chess sets, and chess clocks. A “Youth Blitz” will be featured on Friday offering competition divided into two groups; ages 10 and under and ages 15 and under. A poker tournament for adults is scheduled for Monday.
