Henderson races in the dark

Henderson residents are aglow with anticipation for the Glow Worm 5k Fun Run. The evening event is filled with lights, fitness, and fun.

The run is part of the Lighten Up Henderson initiative – a citywide effort encouraging residents to become more physically active and engaged in the community. The 5k involves a 3.1-mile course that will run through the Equestrian Park and Trail Head, providing a smooth, traffic free path for participants, so that they can run or walk the circuit worry free.

Even with the safe track, bright clothing, reflectors, glow sticks, LEDs, and other forms of visibility increasers are highly recommended. These will – of course – increase safety at the 5K, but will also add to the fun as participants enjoy a jaunt under the stars. The first 350 people to register for the event will also receive a free glow stick, glow bracelet, and a T-shirt with a special logo design for the event. The event is not timed and no prizes will be given out based on time to complete the circuit.

The Glow Worm 5k Fun Run will be held on June 17 from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm starting at the Equestrian Park, located at 1200 Equestrian Dr. Registration costs $25 before May 13, $30 after, and $40 the day of the event. Anyone looking for more information should visit the website.
