Book fair set to provide plenty to write home about

Fort Collins folk have a chance to celebrate books and the people who sell them, as the 2nd Annual Old Town Book Fair comes to town this weekend.

People who attend will be able to purchase new and used books from local book shops, and there will be a ‘Book as Art’ show, plenty of children’s activities, a ‘slam story’ created, and trivia offered on stage, as well as many other activities that might give inspiration to writers, publishers, and print company employees.

For people who enjoy literature, this is arguably the landmark day of the year. Families in attendance can enjoy a book sale, children’s activities, entertainment, music, readings, and workshops. The sponsors for this event include Fort Fund, Poudre River Public Library District, OtterCares, Old Firehouse Books, The Eclectic Reader, BookEnds, The Bizarre Bazaar, Fort Collins Brewery, Odell Brewing, and New Belgium Brewing.

Moving away from books, other events include a giant Scrabble game, beer tasting, a puppet show by Old Town Puppet Company, an open mic storytime, and appearances from several local authors – a complete schedule of which is available online.

The 2nd Annual Old Town Book Fair is free to attend tomorrow, June 29, at the Old Town Square located in Fort Collins, Colorado. To learn more about this fair and the events leading up to it, please visit the Old Town Square Book Fair website or call any of the participating bookstores, during business hours.
