Oktoberfest rings in around Colorado Springs
September 9, 2013 by Max
Colorado Springs Oktoberfest is an active and enjoyable, authentic Bavarian event that the entire family can enjoy, featuring a number of activities and competitions.
This is the second year on which the Oktoberfest celebration has been celebrated in Colorado Springs, and it offers German music, all kinds of dancing, and foods and beverages themed around promoting German heritage.
Sure to be publicized locally through poster and banner printing, this event kicks off with the Oktoberfest 5K Fun Run, which has more than 400 runners signed up this year. There will be a Dachshund Dash as well, so dog-loving guests are encouraged to bring their speedy wiener canine with them.
Prizes will be awarded for the best German costume, so it is a good chance to get those alpine hats, lederhosen, and dirndls out the wardrobe. During the brat eating contest, the competitors have one minute to scoff down as many sausages and buns as possible. As part of the fun, the stein hoisting contest challenges competitors to maintain their posture, and there will be a children’s area offering all kinds of fun games and activities.
Admission to the festival is free to all, and the celebration will be happening from Friday, September 27 until Sunday, September 29 starting at various times at the Citadel’s North East Parking lot located at 750 Citadel Drive E in Colorado Springs.
