Environmental fun in store in Colorado Springs

May 2, 2013 by

The 20th Annual Hummingbird Festival is a great opportunity for bird lovers to come out and discover the wonderful world of the Hummingbird. This is a family event that offers some exciting activities and fun for everyone, no matter what their age.

This festival, which will probably be the subject of a fair amount of promotional flyer printing in the area, will feature a number of children’s activities including crafts, magicians, and many games and activities to keep their interest, while the parents enjoy shopping and browsing at the booths of artisans and crafters.

There will be educational booths that feature nature and the environment, as well as some great food and beverages for people of all ages, and a silent auction. There are a number of live musical performances by bands including the jazz and funk styles of the Broadmoor Academy of Music, the folk and Americana sound of The Mitguards, and bluegrass by Crystal Hillbillies. This is a fundraising event with all proceeds going to The Friends of Cheyenne Canyon. Proceeds will be used for trail maintenance, park safety, and park programs.

Admission to this event is free, but donations will gladly be accepted. The 20th Annual Hummingbird Festival will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Starsmore Discovery Center located at 2120 N. Cheyenne Canyon Road in Colorado Springs, Colorado. To learn more about this educational fundraising event, please visit the Starsmore Discovery Center website or call the Discovery Center at 719-385-6086.
