Boulder takes an icy plunge

February 5, 2014 by

Taking place this weekend, the Boulder Polar Plunge is an annual event in support for the more than 14,200 Special Olympic athletes located in Colorado, and is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics.

Participants will be plunging into the icy waters for a great cause. Banner printing and flyer printing were likely used to raise awareness of this chilly event.

People planning to participate are asked to start or join a team, then ask their friends and family to pledge an amount of money toward their plunge. Everyone in the community is invited to come out and support this cause, including corporations, schools, sororities, law enforcement agencies, and fire departments.

There will be prizes awarded for the Highest Fundraising Team, the Highest Fundraising Individual, Highest LETR – College or University Team, and of course, the Most Team Spirit. All awards are based on the amount of funds raised by teams as of 5:00 pm on February 7. After the plunge, a special after party will be held at the Absinthe House located in Downtown Boulder.

The Boulder Polar Plunge will be happening on Saturday, February 8, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Boulder Reservoir located at 5565 North 51st Street in Boulder, Colorado. To register for this event, or to find out more, visit the Boulder Downtown website or call the organizers at 303-441-3461.
