Bonfire event about to leave its Christmas watermark
November 29, 2012 by James
WaterFire is an installation of over 80 bonfires which have been installed on all three of the rivers in downtown Providence. Several events are held yearly to celebrate WaterFire, and the upcoming Christmas WaterFire event will feature the Christmas tree lighting and then the lighting of WaterFire from Waterplace basin to Steeple St. Bridge.
The event will also feature a visit from Santa Claus, Christmas carol singing by local choirs, free cookies and hot beverages, and a merchandise tent selling WaterFire souvenirs which might make for a unique gift for that friend or family member who is hard to please. Visitors are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift, non-perishable foods, and clothing donations. All items will be given to the Providence Rescue Mission to help the homeless.
WaterFire draws thousands of visitors to Providence every year and Christmas WaterFire is unlikely to be any different. No doubt visitors from all over, including nearby Johnston, will want to experience the lighting. Local printing companies have likely been asked to help with marketing items to publicize this yearly event, with flyer and banner printing bound to have been requested. Flyers are very versatile and inexpensive items that can be distributed in a variety of ways so that as many people as possible can be made aware of an upcoming event.
The 2nd annual Christmas WaterFire will take place at Waterplace Park on December 14 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm and is free to attend. For more information, call 401-273-1155.
