Locals to enjoy a brush with art

April 17, 2013 by

The 55th Annual Darien Art Show & Sale is just over a month away and will feature amazing new event sections in 2013. There will be some private collectors, a best-in-show solo, and everything else one would expect on the usual event roster.

The show will also bring in last year’s contest winner, Sergey Stepanenko, to host an overlapping solo show with the event, which is likely to draw even more visitors than usual.

Talking about the upcoming event and its new improvements, event co-chairman Britt Blair stated:

“While the quality of the entries has always produced fabulous winners, we plan to raise the bar by reaching out more to accomplished artists locally and from out of town. We already have many commitments from professionals in their fields, award winners and artists with dedicated followings.”

Winners at the Annual Darien Art Show can walk away with a variety of prizes, many of which have been provided by local businesses supporting the event. Cash prizes will be awarded to show winners, and a solo show will be awarded to this year’s best-in-show winner.

As the show hopes to recruit even more attendees than usual, organizers may consider the use of print companies to encourage visitors from local towns like fairfield and Norwalk. Using flyer printing or banner printing services can help to spread the word about the event.

It will get underway on May 31 at 7:00 pm Following the event, the artwork will be open to the public for viewing at Weatherstone Studio during the first week of June.

Norwalk native is first CT lottery millionaire this year

January 7, 2013 by

The first day of 2013 spelled victory for CT Lottery winner Giuseppe “Joe” Ambrosio of Norwalk, Connecticut. For this hard-working tradesman of landscaping and masonry, January 1’s ‘Super Draw’ brought the surprising and life-changing cash reward of $1,000,000 ($683,003 after taxes).

As a frequent purchaser of lottery tickets over the past few years, and a winner of several smaller prizes in 2012, this raffle enthusiast and his family were pleased to accept his largest winning yet. In Ambrosio’s words:

“It’s been tough working to pay bills and making ends meet. Now, I’ll finally have some extra money that I can save for the future.”

Purchased at Tracey’s Smoke Shop in Norwalk, Ambrosio’s win also earned the local store a $10,000 check for vending the ticket, as well as a new image as a location for excellent luck. Several smaller cash prizes, including six $20,000 and several $1000 and $100, have yet to be claimed, so ticket holders are urged to check their Super Draw tickets on the CT Lottery website to see all of the winning numbers.

Ann Noble, CT Lottery’s president and CEO, states:

“We look forward to making many more CT Lottery millionaires in 2013.”

Poster printing services are frequently used to promote the CT Lottery wins at vending sites. As is common at many winning locations, Tracey’s Smoke Shop will likely feature a poster of its win. Tracey’s may also want to use a banner printing service to further promote the sale of its winning ticket.

Annual Norwalk fundraiser to help Sandy victims

December 8, 2012 by

Mayor Moccia has announced that the proceeds from the 2013 Mayor’s Ball will be going to victims of hurricane Sandy, with many local residents still recovering.

The Mayor’s Ball is an event which takes place each year, with all proceeds being donated to a deserving local charity. The 2013 event will see all money raised be given to the Fairfield County Community Foundation, for its Sandy Relief Fund.

Announcing the news at the end of November, Moccia said:

“This storm—through wind, rain and flooding—produced damage from which many families are simply unable to recover without some help from their neighbors.”

Richard Moccia went on to say:

“It is in times like this that the Fairfield County Community Foundation can be relied upon to assist our neighbors in need and I am sincerely grateful that, through the Foundation, Norwalk families who were overwhelmed by the storm will receive some assistance.”

All across the county, the hurricane has devastated lives, with the relief fund helping as many folks as it can. However, all funds raised from the Norwalk ball will be infused directly to efforts here.

Tables of 10 can be purchased, making the event a great way to start the networking in the New Year, so ensuring all business card printing needs are taken care of in good time is a good idea. Businesses can also market themselves well by donating a prize for the Silent Auction.

The 2013 Mayor’s Ball will take place at the Continental Manor on Friday, January 25, starting at 7.00 pm, with tickets now on sale.
