St. Ann to benefit from health care consolidation
January 27, 2013 by Sarah
Over 100 new jobs are coming to St. Ann within the next three months, as Conifer Health Solutions consolidates its recent acquisitions from the purchase of Dell, Inc.’s revenue cycle business serving hospitals.
Conifer, a billing and collections subsidiary of Dallas-area Tenet Healthcare, is moving the location of three former Dell operations to its service center in St. Ann. Around a dozen workers will be transferred from the nearby Maryland Heights office, as well as around 100 billing and collector jobs relocated from former Dell offices in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee. New business card and stationery printing opportunities are not the only benefits of the deal, however, as Conifer plans to hire locally to fill out its personnel roster.
Dell Services president Steve Schuckenbrock explains:
“Having worked with Conifer and Tenet for many years, we view our combined capabilities as great for the industry and for our shared customers.
“Dell is ranked number one by Gartner in IT Services within the worldwide healthcare sector. While Conifer is acquiring our hospital revenue cycle management business, we plan to leverage our healthcare expertise, proven methodologies, and robust delivery model to continue providing IT solutions to Conifer as it grows its client base.”
Conifer, based in Frisco, Texas, is a 34-year veteran of the healthcare industry, with over 9,000 employees and 500 hospital and healthcare clients. Dell’s previous relationship with Conifer as its IT provider was a major factor in the decision to rearrange assets.
New Year and New Beginnings at Northwest
December 20, 2012 by Mark
With support from county officials, and a TIF for $33 million, redevelopment has begun at Northwest plaza, St Ann.
Wisconsin-based Menard’s, a regional home improvement chain, has been announced as a new anchor tenant, and Raven is in negotiation with a second. Demolition, to continue through 2013, has begun on the portions for which renovation is not cost-effective, approximately half the square footage. Several buildings, including the office tower will be overhauled. Agreements with major tenants should spur interest from shoe stores and restaurants, printing companies and jewelers and all of the other merchants who breathe life to such a shopping area.
When it was built 50 years ago, Northwest Plaza was the largest shopping center in the world. However, over the last decade, the Plaza became increasingly derelict. Anchor stores and other inside and outside tenants closed their doors. Efforts to revive the center, including exploration of tax incremental financing (TIF) in the mid-2000s came to naught. After passing through a succession of owners, the mall was finally foreclosed and locked up at the beginning of 2011.
While hurdles remain for Northwest Plaza, optimism is finding fertile ground at the site: a new owner has purchased the complex from the bank. Raven Development hopes to shepherd the property back to life and turn it into a Phoenix for the St. Ann community.
At $106 million over five years, the redevelopment will transform the area into The Crossings at Northwest – once more an open-air center as it began life, so many years ago.
