Date set for annual Taste of Itasca event

Bridges Kinship Mentoring recently announced that its fifth annual Taste of Itasca fundraiser event will be held at Grand Rapids location The Timberlake Lodge in early May.
No doubt flyer printing and poster printing are being used to announce this event as only 300 tickets will be available for advance purchase and all seats are on a reserved basis.
Eateries in the area will be showcased in the event and will offer tasters of their individual specialties, including beer and wine tastings, beginning at 5:00 pm. After that, at 6:30 pm, the food tastings will begin, followed by an auction. Highlights of the menu include barbeque beef brisket, seafood bisque, barley and wild rice salad, mini-shrimp tostadas, pork scaloppini, oriental chicken salad, and numerous dessert offerings.
Some of the items to be auctioned include a four-person fly fishing trip in Canada, some hand-crafted Adirondack chairs, a dinner for eight on Deer Lake, and an beautiful swan ornament carved by hand. The event usually ends by 8:30 in the evening.
Many people and businesses collaborate to put together this event and donate their talents and time. Bridges Kinship Mentoring is the recipient of all of the proceeds, which go towards youth and adult mentoring based in the community, youth programming for after school, mentoring based on site, and Lunch Buddies. At the moment, 18 children need matching with a mentor.
The annual fundraiser is due to take place on the evening of Tuesday, May 7.

Grand Rapids Library announces new materials and events

The Grand Rapids Area Library of Minnesota recently announced its acquisition of new materials and special events for the holiday season, all of which are free and open to the public. The Library is no doubt using poster printing to announce the availability of these materials and events to the patrons of Grand Rapids.
The materials include both fiction and non-fiction books, including new releases and best sellers. The Library also has a variety of new genre paperbacks on a display table, along with a selection of DVDs. Patrons of the Library are encouraged to place their names on a request list if they are interested in a new release item.
One of the upcoming events will take place this evening, December 4, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on ideas for ways to use a mason jar. This will be an idea exchange evening where participants will bring samples of their ideas for things they have done with mason jars for either display or practical purposes, and learn from others about how they have used the jars as well.
The next event planned is on Saturday, December 8 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on the Civil War. Arn Kind, dressed as a Union soldier, will be talking about the Civil War and the soldiers’ experiences in this war in a fashion that children can understand. He is from the from the First Minnesota Volunteer infantry Regiment, which is a re-enactment group that creates authentic presentations.
