Enjoy a Harlem Globetrotters Show with the Chamber

December 21, 2012 by

The Harlem Globetrotters have entertained and delighted both children and adults for decades. Their combination of basketball skills and comedy has always been popular and their shows draw thousands wherever they go. Wheeling Prospect Heights Area Chamber of Commerce members can save $7 on each ticket purchased for the upcoming show at the AllState Arena in Rosemont.

The show, which takes place on December 28, will feature a separate Magic Pass event from 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm in which fans can meet the players, pose for photographs, and even shoot some baskets. Before the show starts, fans will also be able to vote on the rules of the upcoming game. Afterwards, everyone will have a chance to meet and greet the players. It should be a great evening out for both adults and children who are fans of the sport and the Globetrotters.

Wheeling Prospect Heights Area Chamber of Commerce members can also use this as a networking opportunity. Many who plan to attend the game might very well arrange for business card printing in advance so they can bring some cards with them. It is likely that members will end up sitting together and it will be very easy to exchange a business card or two and even chat briefly about business during breaks in the game.

Tickets can be purchased through the Chamber until December 26. There are specific seating areas in which the $7 discount applies. For more information, call Jasper Joyce at 602-707-7020.

Tomorrow sees an old-fashioned Christmas in Wheeling

November 30, 2012 by

Many communities throughout the United States are trying to recapture the feeling of the past by holding nostalgic holiday events. Wheeling, for one, will be holding a Victorian Street Festival this year.

The YWCA-Wheeling Holiday Home Tour and Victorian Street Festival, also presented by the Victorian Old Town Association, is dedicated to celebrating a traditional Christmas this year. The evening will start off with a tour of historic homes in North Wheeling. It will then be followed by the street festival, which is set to feature local artisans, strolling carol singers, bake sales, restaurant specials, and Christmas shopping at local stores.

Those who have not yet finished, or even started, their Christmas shopping will be able to pick up some gifts for their friends or family members. There will also be a Children’s Museum holiday winter camp taking place during the day and children will be able to take part in many holiday-related activities.

It is likely that local printing companies will be helping the organizers by providing flyers, posters, and other products meant to market the event in the community. Banner printing is particularly common at Christmas, since people are so often looking up to the skies for tree lights and decorations, and are therefore likely to take in any promotional banners displayed.

The YWCA-Wheeling Holiday Home Tour and Victorian Street Festival will take place tomorrow, December 1, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Tickets for the home tour are $30 while the street festival is free. For more information call 304-233-2575.
