Best of the Trawick Prize winners battle for grand prize

The Trawick Prize Bethesda Contemporary Art Awards 10th anniversary sapphire edition competition and exhibition, presented by the Bethesda Urban Partnership, gets underway is under a month’s time. 30 jurors from the past 10 years of the competition will choose the winner of the Best of the Best Sapphire Award from the Best in Show winners from the past decade, with the winner bagging a prize of $10,000. The public can also vote on the People’s Choice Award, for which the winner will receive $1,000.

The finalists for the awards will be on display at the gallery throughout the month. Some of the artists who have been chosen as finalists are Lillian Bayley Hoover, Richard Cleaver, and David Page. This will be an excellent opportunity for the public to view some of the best art that has been produced in the area throughout the years. The exhibition will likely draw visitors from all over the area, including nearby Rockville. No doubt the organizers will be working with local printing companies to let the public know about the 10th anniversary of this prestigious award.

It will take place at Gallery B from November 3 to December 1 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Admission is free. There will also be an opening reception on November 9 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, where guests will get the chance to talk to some of the artists.
