August 19, 2012 by James
On Saturday, August 25, the 3rd Annual Rockcastle Regional Run, Bike, or Hike will be taking place at Lake Linville Park and Recreation Area in Mount Vernon, Kentucky, which is just a half hour from London. This event begins at 8:00 am.
The annual event consists of a two-mile fun walk, a five-kilometer Run, or the duathlon event. The run and duathlon takes place along the lace and offers great lakeside viewing vista. There will be refreshments, free T-shirts for those who pre-register before August 22, and awards will be provided for overall male and female winners. There will also be awards presented to the top three males and females who finish in each age category.
The duathlon consists of a five-kilometer run, a 16.8 mile biking session, and another five-kilometer finishing run. All participants must wear helmets during the ride portion of the event. Space for the walk is limited to 60 walkers, so advance registration is required. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Lexington, KY. Hope Lodge is renowned for providing free overnight accommodation for caregivers and cancer patients who require treatment in the area. In 2011, this event donated $1,500 to the Hope Lodge.
Poster printing and flyer printing might have been employed to promote this fundraising event to local residents and those in the surrounding regions. Registration is available online and costs $10 if pre-registered, $12 the walk or run, and $40 per person for the duathlon. To find out more, or to register in advance, please visit the Rockcastle Regional Run, Bike, or Hike website or call Susan Brown-Turley at 606-256-7746.
