Parade to honor veterans in Riverside

April 16, 2013 by

The Annual ‘Salute to Veterans Parade’ is scheduled to take place in Riverside this weekend, marking the eighth year for the parade, which was created to honor veterans from all war eras.

Bill Densmore, Parade Director, stated:

“We have been extremely pleased to see our spectator base growing each year, providing a fitting tribute to veterans from the Inland Empire and elsewhere.”

More than 300 entries will be a part of this year’s parade. Entries include marching bands and color guards from area schools, military vehicles and floats, antique cars, and marching units. A number of local veterans will be featured in the parade, for which Joanne Evans is serving as this year’s Grand marshal.

Community parades and other annual events may make use of printing services offered by local print companies in preparation for the activity. Groups and individuals participating in parades often use banner printing as part of their floats or entries, and poster printing is also likely to be used by participants to let readers know they are taking part.

The parade route will be the same as it has been in prior years, with staging to take place near Ramona Drive in the lower parking lots at the Riverside College. From there, the parade will travel up Magnolia Avenue until it reaches Market Street, will turn right onto 10th Street, and finally turn right onto Main Street and end at the courthouse. All parking in the downtown parking areas will be free, including metered parking spaces.

Brandman University opens new campus

March 18, 2013 by

Brandman University in Riverside held a celebration last Friday, March 15, to mark the arrival of its new campus, located at 3550 Vine Street.

The celebration began at 10:00 am and included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a speech from Mayor Pro Tem Andy Melendrez, as well as additional speeches from Chancellor Gary Brahm and other community representatives, including Cindy Roth, who is the President and CEO of the Greater Riverside Chamber of Commerce.

Kristen Plapis, Riverside Campus Director, said:

“While we are saddened to close the Moreno Valley Campus, where Brandman has been serving the community for over 15 years, this new location in Riverside allows us to better serve our students and faculty. Because we focus on serving non-traditional students with evening and online classes, this new location is ideal for busy working professionals in the Riverside area. We are thrilled about our new home.”

Opening ceremonies and other such community events often use banner printing at the celebration to make announcements and welcome guests. Openings of new campus locations and other large organizations, companies, or offices may also require various changes in their printed materials. For example, Brandman, which has moved its campus to a new address, may require brochure printers to make changes to informational materials provided to existing and prospective students.

Brandman’s Riverside campus actually opened services to students in January. It serves approximately 12,000 students located at 26 facilities throughout Washington and California and provides top ranking online programs nationwide.
