Plenty of fun for teens in La Palma

The 7th annual Teen Fashion Scene, hosted by the cities of Cypress and La Palma, will be held in a couple of weeks’ time and kicks off a great period of teen fun in the area.
Students will model Vans, Styles for Less, Furnace and local designers from 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 16. Admission is $5. For more information call (714) 229-6780 Cypress or (714) 690-3350 La Palma.
After that, local bands can submit applications for the 12th annual ‘Battle of the Bands’, which will be held on May 4, 2013. The overall winner will receive a cash prize and a chance to perform at the 2013 La Palma Days Festival in November.
Applications are due by 4:30 pm on Friday, April 5, at the La Palma Recreation Department Office. Postcard printing is an economical way to notify residents of upcoming community events like this.
For students in 7th-8th grade, The Hub in La Palma offers a place to hang out after school from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Monday through Friday. Membership is free and the facility is supervised. Activities include Xbox and Wii, ping pong, movies, board games, magazines, and books and wireless internet access for homework.
Students must have a permission form and waiver form on file to attend. The Hub is located at 5414 La Palma Avenue.
Teen dances are offered for junior high students in cooperation with the city of Cypress and are held at 7821 Walker Street in La Palma. Six dances will be held throughout the year from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Tickets are $6 in advance and $10 at the door. Students must have school ID for admission.
