The Nutcracker to come out of its shell in Brentwood

October 5, 2012 by

The Brentwood Children’s Ballet Theater will present the 8th annual presentation of The Nutcracker in December at the El Campanil Theatre, 602 West Second Street, Antioch.

The Nutcracker portrays the adventures of Clara after she falls asleep on Christmas Eve. After her brother breaks her new nut soldier-shaped nutcracker, young Clara dreams he comes to life and must fight off the dangerous mouse king and his soldiers. Along the way, she meets a variety of fairy tale creatures that entertain her until she returns safely to her home with the light of day.

The ballet is based on ‘The Nutcracker and the King of Mice’ – a book by E.T. A. Hoffman. The music of The Nutcracker was composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1892 and the popular ballet is performed by countless ballet companies each Christmas.

There will be a special ‘Land of Sweets Gala’ performance December 15 at 4:00 p.m. with ticket prices of $14, $16, and $18. Doors will open at 3:00 pm, so pictures may be taken with the dancers. Flyer printing and poster printing might be seen as excellent ways to promote holiday events and make great keepsakes.

Show times for The Nutcracker are 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16. Tickets are priced at $16 opera, $18 loge, and $20 orchestra seating. The box office is located at 604 W. Second Street, Brentwood. Hours are 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday and one hour before show time. For more information call (925) 757-9500.
