The Colony goes up to the highest heights

April 21, 2017 by

The Colony Parks and Recreation Department and the Tribute Lakeside Golf and Resort Community are putting together their Third Annual Up, Up, and Away: Festival of Flight. The event celebrates all forms of flight both avian and aeronautical.

The festival begins with kite demonstrations by local students, followed by open kite flying for all attendees. A limited number of free kites will be available on a first come, first served basis, as well as kites for sale. Afterwards, stunt pilots from Four Winds Aviation will perform feats of bravery and agility as they soar through the air.

From there, the show will have a demonstration of various birds of prey. Once the birding is finished, attendees can take part in a paper airplane contest. The festival will finish up with a drone demonstration, a floating lantern release, and a screening of the movie ‘Storks’.

Aside from all of these aerial escapades, the events will also have face painting, trampolines, food trucks, and live music.

The festival will take place on April 29 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Prestwick STEM Academy located at 3101 Stonefield in The Colony. Attendance to the event is free, though there will be a fee for concessions at the movie or for food from the food trucks. Anyone interested in more information should check the flyers or website.
